Genforum posted 2-21-2001 by Jim Bartlett- "I also have info on the BERKELEY family in Loudoun Co; William BERKELEY b 1690; Will of 1761 in Fairfax Co, VA and his 2nd wife, Elizabeth's Will of 1772 in Loudoun Co, VA. Their son, William, sometimes used BARTLETT and left 1804 Will in Loudoun Co, VA. His son, Garner BARTLETT, went to Berkeley/Frederick Co, VA then to Botetourt/Montgomery Co, VA where he left an 1811 Will. I'd like to learn more of the other members of this BERKELEY/BARTLETT family.

From another deed, Richard THATCHER sells the land that he bought from William and his wife Mary and it is learned that the land was on the North West fork of Goose Creek."In a deed dated 9 Feb 1791, Daniel BARTLETT and Susannah, his wife, sell land to Peter MATHEW. The land is said to be "part of a tract of land lying in County of Loudoun taken up by William BARTLETT, Father of said Daniel BARTLETT, by Patent from the Proprietors Office bearing date the seventh day of January 1771 and conveyed by said William BARTLETT to said Daniel BARTLETT."
Ancestral File shows the Gardner's father as William Bartlett Berkley.

The land is said to be "part of a tract of land lying in County of Loudoun taken up by William BARTLETT, Father of said Daniel BARTLETT, by Patent from the Proprietors Office bearing date the seventh day of January 1771 and conveyed by said William BARTLETT to said Daniel BARTLETT." Don't know origin of this source.
