First Generation

1. Soren OLSON [image] was born^{1, 2} in Nov 1821 in Norway. He died before 20 Apr 1910. Soren immigrated³ in 1867. He bought land⁴ on 20 Jan 1875 in Berlin, Steele, MN. He was counted in a census on 16 Jun 1880 in Berlin Twp, Steele, MN. He was counted in a census on 2 Jun 1900 in New Richland, Waseca, MN.

Soren was living with Christ and Regina Gilbertson during the census on June 2, 1900. He was listed as age 78 and widowed.

According to a photo with the notation "4 sisters" Grandma Mina Reese, Regina Gilbertson, Elisha Johnson, & Laura? Moen?. Elisha must be Elise. It was clear that the name of the last person is uncertain. There is however, a Henry Moan living with or enumerated with Soren Olson and his family on the 1880 Steele County, MN, census for Berlin Township ED#251 pg 141. Did one of his daughters marry Henry? The photo was mailed to Chris R. from Elaine.

Per letter from Pastor Charles Espe, Soren Olsen and Rise Marie Olsdatter joined the LeSueur River Church in or about 1869. There were 6 children at the time Soren and Marie joined the church.

There is a Soren Olson that bought land 1875/01/20 in Berlin Township, Steele, MN.

Soren married Rise Maria OLSDATTER [image]. Rise was born on 15 Jun 1832 in Hoffsung, Norway. She died on 14 Mar 1880 in MN. She was buried¹ in Mar 1880 in Waseca Co, MN, LeSueur River Lutheran Cem.
